Japanese Human Relations

The Japanese are very particular with politeness. There are words which are used to make your sentence polite, more polite and humble. For now, we will use the normal polite expressions as these are the most commonly used (aside from slang japanese)

In Japan, age is relative to the status of a person thus, when referring to elders, seniors, boss, or an outsider, you will have to use polite words. However, to children, pet, subordinate, or someone younger than you, it is alright to sound not so polite.

Aside from that very important note, you will have 3 more possible human
relationships around you, which all depends on the environment and topic. Speaking as the first person, the 3 japanese human relationships are as follows:

1. INSIDER - Person / people who is mentally close to you.
2. OUTSIDER - Person / people who is mentally far from you.
3. NEUTRAL - Person / people who has neither connection to you, the insider or the outsider.

Sample scenarios:

 - You together with your wife, meets your boss at the grocery.

Insider: wife
Outsider: boss
Neutral: other people at the grocery

 - You are in a business meeting together with your boss in a restaurant together with different company representatives.

Insider: boss
Outsider: other company representative
Neutral: other people at the grocery.

Now that you know how to view a person's status, you can now address them correctly.
Next lesson will be teach us on how to do greetings, appreciation and make apologies.

See yeah!
